Montenegro International Guitar Competition 2026 — solo guitar, PRO category, open to classical guitarists of any age. Online first stage on 21 November, live final on 13 December, broadcast from the RTV Nikšić studio.

01 — The competition

Solo guitar. PRO category. No age limit.

The Montenegro International Guitar Competition returns as part of the 21st International Guitar Fest Nikšić with a single PRO category for solo classical guitar. All classical guitarists are eligible, regardless of age.

The competition takes place in two stages: an online first stage streamed on the festival's YouTube channel and Facebook pages, and a live final in the Radio-Television Nikšić studio, broadcast live on TV Nikšić and online.

  • Both rounds are performed from memory.
  • Repertoire from the first stage may not be repeated in the final.
  • Time limits apply to the total length of the video or live performance; an overrun of up to 30 seconds is allowed.

A Piperidis guitar for the winner.

The jury reserves the right not to award a prize if candidates do not meet the required performance criteria.

Send everything by 13 November.

Email the following to montenegro.competition@gmail.com no later than Friday, 13 November 2026:

  2. Passport copyA copy of the candidate's passport.
  3. Proof of paymentRegistration fee of €120 — bank details below.
  4. Video recordingFor the first stage, shared via Google Drive, WeTransfer or similar, without an expiry date.

If you do not receive a confirmation within three days of applying, please call the organisers (phone number below).

Video requirements

  • Format mp4 · minimum 720p (1280×720) · aspect ratio 16:9.
  • The performer must be clearly visible.
  • One continuous take — no cuts, editing or pre-recorded audio (playback).
  • Name the file with your full name and country.

05 — Rules

The fine print.

  1. Competitors who do not meet the conditions will be disqualified.
  2. Performance order is alphabetical by surname; the timetable is published the day before on the competition's Facebook page.
  3. The jury is made up of distinguished domestic and international musicians and guitar teachers. Jury members may not vote for their own students.
  4. Finalists must buy their plane, train or bus ticket to/from Nikšić within 3 days of the first-stage results and notify the organiser.
  5. Finalists cover their own travel and accommodation in Nikšić.
  6. The jury's decisions are final. Results are published on this website and the competition's Facebook page.
  7. The organisers hold all rights to broadcast competition recordings on web platforms, social media, TV and radio, without financial compensation to participants.
  8. The organising committee may change the schedule (dates, times, order of performances).
  9. The organiser accepts no responsibility for injury, accidents, damage or theft of property at the venue.
06 — The Final

Live from the RTV Nikšić studio.
